Academics

Higher Education Administration

The Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration is designed to prepare graduates for positions in higher education administration, faculty and research and policy. Students benefit from a Common Leadership Core experience with students from other educational leadership programs to gain an understanding of common and divergent interests and issues between all levels of education and leadership positions across these levels.

They also benefit from a Higher Education Core designed to provide breadth across critical areas of HIED and from a specialization within HIED, which may include: Academic Affairs/Curriculum and Assessment, College Student Development, Administration, Organizations, and Policy, or an Individualized Specialization. A cognate outside the Higher Education Administration program allows for in-depth study in a field related to student interests and intended practice, and a Research Core emphasizes the importance of producing original research as well as the ability to critically evaluate and effectively apply published scholarship to problems of practice.
