The graduate program leading to the M.A. in special education is designed to prepare master teachers of infants, toddlers, children and adults with exceptionalities and to provide initial training for the preparation of future supervisors and administrators of public-school special education programs.

English Proficiency Requirements

All applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency. WVU accepts either the TOEFL or the IELTS for this purpose. Learn more about our English language proficiency requirements.
