Nursing (PhD) - Online

The School of Nursing offers the Doctor of Philosophy degree program to prepare nurse scientists for roles in research, teaching, clinical, and policy leadership positions. Graduates can be employed as faculty members, nurse researchers, senior nursing administrators, or independent consultants. The program is delivered in a blended format with both in-person and online learning components. After three years of course work, students are given a qualifying examination and must then complete research and a dissertation defense before graduating.

English Proficiency Requirements

All applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency. WVU accepts either the TOEFL or the IELTS for this purpose. Learn more about our English language proficiency requirements.
