Description

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree prepares individuals for a career in public service. Alumni work in government and nonprofit agencies to develop and implement public policies and programs.

WVU offers the only nationally accredited MPA program in West Virginia.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Public Administration at WVU?

University Requirements

To be eligible for admission into a graduate program at WVU an applicant must submit official, bachelors degree transcripts from a regionally accredited institution and hold a GPA of at least 2.75.

WVU operates decentralized admissions. Decentralized admissions allows each graduate program to set its own application requirements in addition to the University requirements.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the Public Administration graduate program an applicant must submit the following documentation:

  • Letters of Recommendation - Two
  • Résumé /CV
  • Statement of Purpose
  • GRE
  • GMAT

Additional application considerations:

  • GRE, GMAT, LSAT scores required

  • Applicants can request GRE, GMAT, LSAT waiver if they meet one of the below critera. Contact a program representative for a waiver.

  • Undergraduate GPA is 3.4 or higher
  • Applicants who already hold a graduate degree or have successfully completed at least 18 semester hours in another accredited graduate program
  • Applicants with 5 or more years of significant managerial administrative experience
