What is Communication Studies (Theory and Research) at WVU like?

Description

The MA program in Communication Studies is intended to qualify the student to assume a variety of professional roles in educational, industrial and government institutions; teach the subject matter at the college level; or undertake advanced training toward a doctorate in communication studies.

The MA program in Corporate and Organizational Communication is intended for people interested in a career in communication-intensive positions.

The Master of Arts degree in Communication in Instruction is designed for the professional educator who is employed full-time in the education setting.

What are the requirements to apply for Communication Studies (Theory and Research) at WVU?

University Requirements

To be eligible for admission into a graduate program at WVU an applicant must submit official, bachelors degree transcripts from a regionally accredited institution and hold a GPA of at least 2.75.

WVU operates decentralized admissions. Decentralized admissions allows each graduate program to set its own application requirements in addition to the University requirements.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the Communication Studies (Theory and Research) graduate program an applicant must submit the following documentation:

  • Résumé /CV
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Letters of Recommendation - Two

Additional application considerations for applicants:

  • The writing sample: A sample of scholarly work, and any additional supporting materials (awards, conference papers, articles, evaluations, etc.)
  • Transcripts from all institutions attended

Applications completed by the deadline will receive priority consideration. Certain application requirements may be waived based on a preliminary review of an application by the program.
