The WVU Master of Science in Industrial Relations and Human Resources is one of the oldest and most celebrated HR/IR programs in the country. Our students participate in a wide variety of co-curricular learning opportunities, including off-site company visits, networking events, industry conferences, internships opportunities, and the Eaton Practicum Series.

As part of the MSIRHR program requirements, you must complete a supervised internship where you are exposed to the many facets of HR management. Internships have been completed in diverse environments, such as manufacturing facilities, corporate headquarters, and operation centers. During the internship experience, you’ll build hands-on expertise that complements your in-class learning and continue making professional contacts that may lead to full-time employment after program completion.

The MSIRHR curriculum includes practicum that provides both professional and career development opportunities. Practicum is designed to build skill sets that will assist you not only in obtaining a professional position upon graduation but will be utilized throughout your career.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Industrial Relations and Human Resources, MS at WVU?

University Requirements

To be eligible for admission into a graduate program at WVU an applicant must submit official, bachelors degree transcripts from a regionally accredited institution and hold a GPA of at least 2.75.

WVU operates decentralized admissions. Decentralized admissions allows each graduate program to set its own application requirements in addition to the University requirements.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the Industrial Relations and Human Resources graduate program, you must submit the following documentation:

  • Résumé/CV
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Letters of Recommendation - 1

Additional considerations for applicants:

  • English Proficiency Test Scores (International Applicants Only) TOEFL: 600 (paper test), 250 computer-based), 100 (TOEFL-iBT) IELTS: 7.0 (Note: applicants are required to take the Academic Reading/Writing test within IELTS, not the General Training Reading/Writing test) PTE Academic: 68 Duolingo English Test: 120

Applications that are incomplete or are submitted after the deadline may be reviewed if openings remain.

International applicants must also submit required materials for international applicants.
