Mechanical Engineering

The Ph.D. program is designed to give students competence at the highest level in mechanical engineering. A Ph.D. is a research-based degree and students are required to research, complete and successfully defend a dissertation in a subject of his/her choosing. The goal of the Ph.D. is to expand the field of knowledge in the mechanical engineering field.

Faculty Profile

Dr. Jacky C. Prucz

Dr. Prucz has a long record with the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, having been a part of it for over 26 years. As an instructor, he was awarded several honors including Outstanding Teacher (2002 & 2008) and the George W. Weaver award for outstanding teaching of mechanics (2004). In 2007, he became a full Professor before becoming Interim Chairman in 2009. In 2011, he was appointed Chair of the department. Since then, Dr. Prucz has continued work on several research projects in addition to his responsibilities as Department Chair.
