Non-Degree Professional Development Applicant
Admission as Professional Development Student
If you are seeking credits for teacher renewals of certification or salary increases, you will need to be an active, non-degree, graduate student (Professional Development) to enroll in the credits. If you are unsure of your status, email graduateadmissions@mail.wvu.edu or call 304-293-2121.
If you are not an active WVU student with non-degree, graduate status, you need to follow the steps below:

Apply to WVU through the graduate application.
- Create an account by clicking Create New Account.
- Use the account information created to sign in to the application and click Sign In.
- Complete the application with your information and the following:
- Level: Graduate/Professional
- Type: Professional Development
- Program: Professional Development
- Term: Select the appropriate term for which you wish to receive the credits.
The Office of Graduate Admissions will process your admission request. This can take a few business days to process.

Retrieving Login Credentials
Follow the directions below to activate your account. Please allow yourself 15-20 minutes to activate your account, change your password, set up two-factor authentication, register for the course, and pay your bill. After completing the initial setup, for future registrations you can go directly to the ‘Accessing Your WVU Portal Account’ and ‘Registration and How to Pay Your Bill’ sections within the WVU Portal.
Obtaining your WVU ID number
- Visit WVU Login look up.
- Follow the directions to retrieve your ID by using your date of birth and Social Security Number.
- Keep this number secure and ready for the next set of instructions.

Activating your WVU account
To access the University systems, you must first activate your account. After your admission to the University, an Okta activation email is sent to the email address you provided on your WVU application. The Okta activation email should arrive within 2 hours of your acceptance message. Open the email from Okta and follow the instructions inside to activate your WVU Login. After completing activation, you can sign in to the WVU Portal using your WVU Login credentials.

Two-factor authentication required
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of account security, besides your username and password. All WVU students, faculty, and staff must enroll in Okta Verify to access WVU accounts and systems.

Accessing WVU Portal and Registration
Once you have your WVU ID number and have activated your account, you can access and log in to the WVU Portal. This will be where you will access your student information and student services.

Change/Update Personal Information
If there are corrections to be made on your personal information, please fill out the Change Personal Information form and return the form and necessary documents to the Office of the University Registrar.
Payment
For billing information, viewing charges, making payments, and other payment-related information, please refer to the WVU MyAccount Tutorials website.
Students will only be assessed University Fees& per credit hour which serve as a processing fee. Visit our WVU Morgantown On-Campus Tuition and Fees webpage for the most current costs. Processing fees are not considered a qualified educational expense and will therefore not be reported on a Form 1098-T for income tax credit purposes.
