It should be emphasized that the PhD is primarily a research degree, and therefore the research work for a doctoral dissertation should show a high order of originality on the part of the student and must offer an original contribution to the field of engineering science.

What are the requirements to apply for Biomedical Engineering, PhD at WVU?

University Requirements

To be eligible for admission into a graduate program at WVU an applicant must submit official, bachelors degree transcripts from a regionally accredited institution and hold a GPA of at least 2.75.

WVU operates decentralized admissions. Decentralized admissions allows each graduate program to set its own application requirements in addition to the University requirements.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the Biomedical Engineering graduate program, you must submit the following documentation:

  • Letters of Recommendation - 3
  • Résumé /CV
  • Statement of Purpose

Additional application considerations:

  • Applicants have a minimum 3.0/4.0 grade point average overall, in the last 2 years of undergraduate study, and in their major field.

Certain application requirements may be waived based on a preliminary review of an application by program.

International applicants must also submit materials required for international applicants.
